PRIVACY POLICY

Your privacy, explained.

How MenuMiles handles menu text, preferences, purchases, optional analytics and your privacy choices.

About this policy

This policy explains the MenuMiles iOS app and this product website. The app processes the information described below to translate menus, maintain your settings and history, and provide menu analyses. Contact and service-provider details must correspond to the operator shown on the app’s App Store listing.

Information you choose to provide

MenuMiles signs you in anonymously through Firebase Authentication (Google); no name, email address or password is required. MenuMiles stores your app profile, language and food preferences, allergy or intolerance preferences you enter, saved dishes, meal history and private notes on its service. A pseudonymous app identifier and session credentials connect this information to your app account. Do not put unnecessary personal information into a menu scan.

Menu photos and AI analysis

Menu text is recognized on your device. The original photo is not uploaded. When you permit AI analysis, extracted menu text is sent through the MenuMiles service to OpenAI to translate and explain dishes. Your allergy profile and private notes are not sent to the AI provider. If you request an illustrative dish image, the dish description is processed to generate it. Generated images do not show the restaurant’s actual presentation.

How information is used

Information is used to provide requested menu analyses, personalize information to your preferences, save your history, validate purchases, maintain your unused analysis balance, prevent misuse and respond to support requests. Where applicable, these activities rely on providing the requested service, your consent, legal obligations or legitimate interests in operating and securing the service.

Notifications

If you allow push notifications, a device token is stored with your account and notifications are delivered through Firebase Cloud Messaging (Google). You can turn notifications off at any time in your iOS settings.

Optional usage analytics

Usage analytics are optional and controlled in Settings. These events describe screen use, action outcomes and performance. Menu text, allergy details and private notes are excluded from analytics events. Turning analytics off deletes queued and stored usage events for your account. Operational records needed to run and secure the service are separate.

Purchases and service providers

Apple processes App Store payments. MenuMiles receives transaction information from Apple to verify purchases and maintain your analysis balance; it does not receive your full payment card details. RevenueCat acts as a service provider that receives purchase information for purchase reporting and analytics only; it does not decide or grant your analysis balance. OpenAI processes the menu text or image-generation descriptions described above. Google (Firebase) provides anonymous sign-in and push notification delivery. Infrastructure providers process information needed to host and secure the MenuMiles service. Their processing may occur outside your country under their applicable terms and safeguards.

Private history and community sharing

Meal history and personal notes are private by default. If you choose to publish a meal to the community, the content you publish can be viewed by others after moderation. You can delete your own posts, report content, and block an author. Consider what you include before publishing.

Retention and deletion

Your profile, preferences, saved items and history are retained while your app account remains active or until you delete them. Optional usage events are scheduled for deletion after 90 days; operational analytics after 30 days. Account deletion removes your profile, history, posts, associated generated images and account-linked analytics. Unused analyses are lost when the account is deleted. Purchase records are kept in anonymized form, without a link to you, so that a purchase can never be credited twice. External processors may retain data according to their own applicable terms and obligations.

Your choices and rights

You can change preferences, control AI processing consent, disable optional analytics and delete your account from the app. Depending on where you live, you may also have rights to access, correct, receive a copy of, restrict or object to processing of your information, withdraw consent, or complain to a data protection authority. Requests may require verification to protect your information.

This website

The interactive demonstrations use sample dishes and do not submit menu text or orders to a server. Example saved state exists only in the current page session. This website uses Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-focused service, to count page views and measure performance. It does not use cookies or local storage for this, does not track visitors across websites and does not create profiles. The website integrates no advertising or other third-party tracking scripts. Cloudflare, as the website’s infrastructure provider, also processes technical request data, such as your IP address, to deliver and secure the site. The audio demo uses your browser’s speech function; voice processing depends on your browser and device.
